Purpose
The Driver Safety Plan software program helps authorized agencies in Wisconsin capture Intoxicated Driver Program (IDP) assessment
data and prepares it for electronic transfer to the Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WDOT).
Background
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) is responsible for devising strategies to reduce deaths,
injuries, and economic losses resulting from motor vehicle crashes. NHTSA is concerned that without a current and
accurate record of driver information, it is difficult for law enforcement agencies, licensing agencies, the criminal justice
system, IDP assessment agencies and others to make sound decisions on how to respond
and take the appropriate action against drivers demonstrating unsafe behavior on the roadways. The Driver Safety Plan software program
facilitates timely and accurate processing of IDP assessments.
